Good Grabber!

This grabber saves me the trouble of dragging a step stool to the laundry room every time I need something out of the cabinet. We put in a pedestal washer/dryer combo, and they’re so deep and tall I can’t reach the cabinets without help anymore!
I’m impressed by the overall sturdiness, and most of the grabber is constructed of aluminum, with the exception of the plastic handle. The rubberized gripping surfaces have small fins that deform around the object being lifted in order to give a more secure hold. There’s also a magnet built into one of the grippers that can pick up a decent sized lag bolt.
The handle is designed in such a way that the gripping action is naturally activated when holding a heavy object. This design feature makes it easier to pick up and hold larger objects with less fatigue. The jaws couldn’t quite get around a jumbo roll of paper towels, but once I nudged them over, I could grab them by the tube in the middle. The jaws are big enough to easily fit over the smallest dimension of a standard box of tissues though. It can also handle picking up smaller objects as well – I found I could easily retrieve dimes, pennies, and quarters off of the floor.
As for the jaw width, I measured it at 5.5″ at its widest point, and 4.125″ at it’s narrowest clearance when open.
Overall, these grabbers are an excellent solution for reaching high places and avoiding bending over to pick up objects on the floor. The grip strength is very good, and the design is excellent.
